DIY Paint Dipped Pine Cones

You can Dip pine cones in paint to coordinated with the decor in your home. I dipped these pine cones in Pantone's color of the year which is Tangerine Tango. Follow the instructions below to make your own paint dipped pine cones.

What you will need:

  • Pine cones
  • Paint
  • Scissors
  • Sting or wire

Tie string (I used clear) to your pine cone

Dip pine cone in paint and pull out with string.

Hang pine cones to dry. Make sure they are not touching anything.

Let dry overnight.

Pretty! I might dip/spray paint some pine cones black for Halloween.

Fall Garden Inspiration

Now that it's finally fall in New Orleans, I can't wait until the weather is decent enough to spend time outdoors. I wanted to post some inspirational photos of some smaller scale outdoor projects.

patio table
With all the trees that fell with hurricane Issac, these outdoor side tables are 100% doable!!! Just cut logs to size, clean and lacquer! You could also dig out one of the stumps and create a mini planter.

Firepit with openings at the bottom for airflow and keep feet warm!!
I love the idea of having openings at the bottom of a fire pit to keep your feet warm.

Cute light source
Create these balls of light by simply buying two globes for light fixtures from a second hand store or home improvement store. Use Christmas tree lights to light them up.
This is what they look like during the day time. Too cute!

Home Tips After Hurricane Issac

I hope everyone and their property is doing well after Hurricane Isaac. Many of us had no electricity for days, so I wanted to post some easy tips on how you can clean up after this mess.

Chalk Dehumidifier

I was browsing online and came across Martha Stewart's ingenious idea of using chalk as a dehumidifier. If you have a small laundry room or closest that got a bit damp, this is the perfect solution for you. Clean up all the water and dry the space as best as possible with fans. After everything is dried, bundle up some chalk and hang it. The chalk will soak up additional moisture.

Remove Water Rings

This happens a lot, especially if you have kids who don't use coasters. This remedy can also work on some other water damage on the surface area of wood. All you have to do is use a hair blower on high heat and hold it fairly close to the stain. It might take a while, but you may see amazing results. Rub a bit of polish on the stain afterwards.

Easy Clean Microwave

If your microwave was dirty before the storm, the food is probably good and caked on now. The solution to this mess is to place a wet sponge in create steam. This will help loosen the food to remove it easier.
