Scraplab

Scraplab is an interesting cooperative out of Bangkok, Thailand, where leftover industrial waste and materials are reused and re-circulated through design. For example, one of their products is a “Black Nest” chair and stool set made of black plastic edge trimmings and designed by Khatiya Chatpetch. For more information, visit Scraplab.org.

Bold Statement: Recycled Belt Floor Tiles

Another really innovative recycled product that I am adding to Chet’s List is the Modular Leather Belt Floor Tile from Ting London. Though pricey at $75 a square foot, these tiles make a strong statement that conveys a commitment to eco-friendly products with sharp, creative design. Since the tiles are individually designed in house, you are guaranteed a floor pattern that is truly one of a kind.

Introducing Chet's List

To kick off “Chet’s List”, which will exhibit design items of interest, I want to highlight a leather stool I came across when browsing the internet. Made from recycled leather, this stool is eye catching in that in combines a delicate pattern with the ruggedness of leather. To view details, visit Pure D├ęco, a French online boutique selling furniture and home accents.

Mardi Gras is Right Around the Corner......

In case you missed it this morning, check out my two-part segment on ABC 26’s “Good Morning New Orleans” to discover some great, simple ways to recycle old holiday items into “sparkle-icious” and original Mardi Gras decorations.

The Mardi Gras season is filled with parties and events, and in the spirit of celebrating and keeping eco-friendly, we visited Mardi Gras World where I showed host Anna Adair how to make a colorful vase, artwork that doubles as a party favor, and a chic Mardi Gras wreath.

Watch these clips below for the tips and tricks…

Bringing in the New Year With a Bang...

Happy New Year!!  I just got back from spending Christmas and New Year's Eve in New York, and I'm excited to jump right into 2009.

My latest segment on ABC 26's "Good Morning New Orleans" aired this morning, and I showed host Anna Adair how to create gorgeous dinner decor on a tight budget.

Given the current economic crisis, dining out is a luxury that many can no longer afford.  However, you can bring the same elegant ambiance to your own homemade meal.  Not only do I show Anna how to "Chet-erize" a boring table setting, but I also provide tips on how to stay eco-friendly and "sparkle-iscious" as well.

Check out the two-part segment below...

Hope you all enjoy!!
