CHET CHAT AND KIPP SCHOOL

Rebuilding the city and community of New Orleans is a one step at a time process.  Chet Chat is contributing to all aspects of the community in a big way.  Each month non-profit organizations will be chosen to receive a one-room make over by Chet Pourciau and his design team.

This month Chet Chat is renovating a reading room in KIPP Renaissance High School located in the lower 9th ward which was one of the many properties that was devastated by hurricane Katrina.

KIPP schools are nationally recognized for preparing underserved students for success in college and in life.  Over 85% of KIPP graduates have gone on to college.  By 2022 KIPP Renaissance High School and KIPP New Orleans Schools will have launched 1,000 + first-generation students to college graduation.

Chet Pourciau and his design team believe in public education in New Orleans and really wanted to make a difference in this school.  Many local companies and artisans rallied up and donated wonderful things to make this process happen.  Floor de Lis donated the carpet, Mike Fennelly; a local artist donated a painting, and Allison Steward, another local artist dontated a painting among various other people who pulled this room together through their generous donations.

Make sure you watch the reveal of the new reading room at Kipp Renaissance School on Chet Chat on WLAE.
