CHAIRish the Children 2012 - "The Some-Times Picayune"

CHAIRish the Children is having it's 14th annual gala this Saturday where they feature designer chairs and other exciting entertainment. They asked Chet Pourciau Design to come up with our own one-of-a-kind chair to auction off during the gala.

"The Some-Times Picayune" chair is of course themed after our beloved Times Picayune newspaper that has recently moved to printing only three times a week. All articles featured on the chair focus on New Orleans events in the recent past. We hope you enjoy!

Accessorizing Your Coffee Table

Keep it personal

Make sure what you have on display shows off your personality and design taste.

 Display you favorite books or items. Do you like elephants? Display one!

Balance

Consider scale and height. Use books, bowls and natural items that are different sizes to give interest and flow

One trick is to arrange accessories in groups or multiples of three

Ground the items

Small items are better displayed on a tray so that they do not look cluttered

You can also place items on stacked books to give height and ground. 

Go with a theme

Different colors and shapes can work together if there is a common theme

Go with a color

If items have the same coloring, even unusual finds can work with each other.

Consider organic items like flowers, succulents or even fruit.

Add some bling

A bit of bling (silver or gold) can draw the eye in and make your coffee table pop

Do not overcrowd

Even if you have some beautiful antiques, try not to clutter

Sometimes a single item is enough of a statement

iCAN Foundation Fundraiser with Pierre Thomas

The iCAN Foundation had a fabulous fundraiser at the Balouq in Lee Circle on August 18th. Many Saints players were in attendance. The iCAN Foundation was founded by Pierre Thomas, New Orelans Saints' RB, in response to the ongoing issue with childhood obesity. Check out their website at this LINK

Jen Hale and Chet created their own Build a Bear to raise money of the non-profit.

Creative Interior Design

There are plenty of good interior design ideas out there. I thought I would post some pictures I thought were quite brilliant. Enjoy!

If you have a dog who loves to sleep under your feet, this is the perfect solution for not tripping over them. Create a spot just for pets. I guess kids could have fun in this nook too.

Do you have a smaller bathroom? This innovative idea helps that bathroom look more spacious because the visual space is not taken up.

Do you need a room divider but you do not want to build a wall? Hang glass bubbles (even ornaments) to create a creative solution. 

I know this is for the outdoors and extremely $$$, but what an amazing idea! Saves driveway space for others and hides your pricey car at the same time.

Love this "tree" house. If you have tall ceilings and some extra cash, why not? All I know is that these are some lucky kids!
